Chasing Omaha Regional Projections – 5/15/2014

CWS Plate

Every week, our co-founder and publisher, Craig Amick, will release his regional projections. These projections are a snap-shot of what the bracket might look like if it were released today based on the criteria that the NCAA Tournament Committee uses to build the field of 64 in June. These projections are not a prediction of what the bracket will look like in June, so every week we will get closer and closer to the final picture.

The national seeds have a number next to them in parenthesis and the projected super regional match-ups are side-by-side. Projected conference champions are in italics, an asterisk indicates a team that’s earned an automatic bid.

Next week, look for projections Tuesday & Friday and our final projections will be out after the tournaments on Sunday.

  1. DevilBacker

No offense, but your projections are a little crazy. You clearly put some effort into this, but you didn’t account for a HUGE factor in NCAA regional host sites: geography. The West almost always gets four regionals, in the very leanest years, three. You give the West just two??? (UW and Oregon State), then give the central five, (plausible), but then give the East NINE? That’s insane. There is zero chance of that. I think you need to look at NCAA regional host selection over the years. Your east coast bias is showing.

  2. Richard in Austin, Texas

I am surprised that you have Texas so high. The last 30 days have not been disastrous. Losing the series to West Virginia two weeks ago sunk the season. We may not be able to take more than one against KSU? In one month we went from being a top eight seed to barely being in the top twenty.

  3. Thrill

Two regionals in Houston? What are u smokin? If Cal Poly does not host, I will come to Houston. ha ha ha

  4. Hey Craig?
    How about the Arkansas Hogs?
Don’t they deserved some regional host consideration?
They have won 9 of last 11 to reach SEC Semis and beat Ole Miss twice.
If Ole Miss hosts over the Hogs they need to quit having an SEC Tournament. What’s the point?
